Why licenses are required

On 01.01.2026, the Law 384/2025 Z.z. on Revenue Records came into effect. Under § 21, the law repeals the original Law 289/2008 Z.z. on Cash Registers effective from 1.1.2026 and requires the following changes on all eKasas:

• updated communication between the eKasa device and the Financial Administration server
• updated eKasa client software
• updated and re-flashed firmware of the protected data storage unit (CHDU)

And adds new obligations effective from 01.05.2026:

• Introduction of the obligation for all entrepreneurs to accept cashless payments for payments exceeding 1€

New software versions are protected by a license key tied to the specific device.

This information is printed on the label on the printer, or can be read via the print manager icon:

When ordering a license, report the Serial Number value.

License types

1. eKasa FT4000 with CHDU5001

The license key is bound to the CHDU5001 serial number. Before ordering, you need to identify the CHDU serial number and report it to objednavky@varos.sk.

After payment, the print manager will download the license automatically on startup. If needed, you can download it manually using the VAROS CHDU 5001 card above and save it into the print manager’s directory as TM5000WIN.key.

2. eKasa FT5000 with CHDU5001

The license key is bound to the printer identifier. Before ordering, identify the device Identifier and report it to objednavky@varos.sk.

If the license exists, the printer downloads it automatically on startup. A valid license then allows uploading the new firmware version (5.2.x) via the FT5000 web interface.

3. eKasa FT4000/FT5000 with CHDUAPR1 (BOWA)

The license key is bound to both the printer identifier and the BOWA license on the CHDU. Before ordering, report both the CHDU serial number and the printer Identifier to objednavky@varos.sk.

The printer downloads the license automatically on startup. For manual retrieval, use the BOWA CHDU card in the License Manager above — copy the license key and upload it via the BOWA UI into PPEKK.

⚠ Licenses for the original CHDUA01 units were valid only until the end of 2024. These units cannot be used from 2025 onwards. The new CHDUAPR1 meets the 2025 legislative requirements.

How to order a license

1. Identify your eKasa type and CHDU type — refer to the documentation for your device.
2. Report the CHDU serial number or printer Identifier to objednavky@varos.sk.
3. After payment is processed, the license keys will be generated.
4. You will receive the license automatically (the printer or print manager downloads it on startup) or manually via the License Manager on this page.
