Guide to Legislative Changes Upgrade as of 01.01.2025

Upgrade of legislative changes as of 01.01.2025 and procedure for replacing the original BOWA CHDÚ with VAROS CHDU5001 in FT5000 devices.

Before installing the new CHDÚ, print daily and monthly reports, if the customer keeps report records

Versions:

  • WEB admin: 5.0.0
  • PPEKK FT5000: 3.2.0
  • CHDÚ Firmware: 1.3.3

Prerequisites

WEBADMIN version 5.0.0 requires a valid legislative changes license If the license is valid, uploading updates is enabled through the printer’s WEB interface

Upgrade procedure depends on your configuration:

  • Printer with VAROS CHDU5000: only upgrade steps 1-5 are performed
  • Replacement from BOWA to CHDU5001: upgrade steps 1-14 are performed

Software Installation and Upgrade

Step 1: Print LOG File

Turn on the printer and use the built-in keyboard to print the service message – LOG file.

Procedure:

  1. Press the SELECT button 5 times (the LOG LED will light up)
  2. Press the CONFIRM button

Step 2: Find IP Address

The printed LOG file contains the printer’s IP address.

WEB interface communication example:

http://192.168.10.50

Step 3: Log in to WEB Interface

  1. Launch your internet browser
  2. Enter the printer’s IP address
  3. Log in using Username and Password

Step 4: Pre-upgrade Verification

Before uploading the update, check the number of issued documents via the WEB interface.

If there are more than 250,000 documents on the printer:

  • Database size must be checked via CLOUD
  • Check required free space for installation
  • Installation requires 1.2 times the database size

Step 5: Upload Update

  1. After logging in, click on Configuration/Activation
  2. Check the Upgrade to version 5.0.0 option
  3. Click the Save button

Upgrade Signaling

Upgrade time depends on internet speed and number of printed documents:

  • Downloading: all LEDs blink
  • Upgrade in progress: all 6 LEDs are lit
  • Installing:
    • WEBADMIN ver. 5.0.0
    • PPEKK ver. 3.2.0
    • CHDÚ Firmware ver. 1.3.3

⚠️ IMPORTANT WARNING

After program upgrade, sales SQL databases are modified.

For large databases, processing speed is approximately 100,000 documents per 10 minutes.

DO NOT TURN OFF THE PRINTER AT THIS POINT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! This could cause irreversible damage to all sales databases.

After upgrade completion, only the middle LED will remain lit.

Step 6: Version Verification

On the printer’s WEB interface, check the correctness of installed versions.


Post-Upgrade Configuration

After program upgrade, set:

  1. Fixed document formatting

    • Check the Fixed Format option
  2. Document footer – insert the following commands:

    • ^Z – cash drawer opening command
    • Press ENTER key 5 times – paper ejection command
    • ^Ei – paper cutting command
  3. Click the Save button


CHDU5001 Installation and Activation

Perform this procedure only if you are replacing BOWA CHDÚ with VAROS CHDU5001.

Step 7: Turn Off and Disassemble Printer

Turn off the printer and carefully disassemble it.

Step 8: Insert New CHDU5001

  1. Insert the new CHDU5001 into the printer
  2. Tighten the fixing screw
  3. Check correct insertion before reassembly

Step 9: Check LED Indication

  1. Turn on the printer
  2. If the blue LED lights up on the CHDÚ, the CHDÚ is correctly inserted

Step 10: Reassemble Printer

Turn off the printer and reassemble it.

Step 11: Log in to WEB Interface

Turn on the printer and log in to the WEB interface.

Step 12: CHDÚ Activation

CHDÚ activation and uploading of Authentication and Identification data is straightforward.

The printer has data stored from the previous CHDÚ including the hidden password.

Procedure:

  1. Check the Process new activation data option
  2. Click the Save button

Step 13: Complete Activation

  1. The printer will print eKasa activation data
  2. Activation is completed by pressing the CONFIRM button for more than 3 seconds
  3. After successful activation, the printer will print: DONE

Step 14: Check QR Code Printing

We recommend printing a zero invoice or zero receipt to check QR code printing.

If QR Code Does Not Print

The printer does not support native QR code printing:

  1. In the Configuration/Activation tab
  2. Deactivate the Epson QR code native print option
  3. Click the Save button

The printer will then use graphic QR code printing.
